Poets

One thing a poet needs to have

To render his creation

Is lots of paper and a crayon

And much imagination.

A lifetime isn’t long enough

To experience each condition

So every writer must pretend

When giving his rendition.

It helps to have a humble heart

Be sensible and kind.

When writing about other folk

One needs an open mind.

And if by some expectant chance

His style of verse should tease you;

He probably worked so very hard

On lyrics planned to please you.
